Production note
As the worldwide first industrial nation Germany will renounce nuclear energy. Nevertheless, the energy is needed furthermore, eight new coal-fired power stations are built currently in Germany. The coal for German power stations comes mainly from Colombia, trend rising.
The documentary film of Jens Schanze accompanies a South American Indian's community of the Wayúu whose village Tamaquitos (Colombia) is on the edge of the biggest coal opencast mining of the world. The operators of the coal mine want to raise on account of the rising inquiry from Europe the coal support by 50%. Therefore, the village should be resettled by the multinational construction group of Cerrejón.
The resettlement has been decided, but 170 inhabitants of the South American Indian's village
defend themselves against it.
